Born and raised on Maui, I struggled as a young adult to find something that not only allowed me to stay in Hawaii and raise my family, but I also wanted to do my part to give back to the Aina. In 2009 I found that both could be true when I started working for Rising Sun Solar. I ran the Sales & Marketing teams on all islands for 6 years before being recruited by Sunpower Corp. as the Hawaii Regional Sales Manager. To say I’ve seen a lot and have been through a lot of changes in the market since then is an understatement. From tax credit changes to loss of NEM, the ability to adapt to the market and to help the Installers of Hawaii figure out how to conform to many new realities and challenges has been the most exciting and challenging period of my career. My knowledge and experience with PV + Storage and the Hawaii market conditions is significant, however, the most rewarding experiences stem from the relationships I have built along the way.  Hawaii installers are not only my customers, but they are also my Ohana. My value to HSEA is my pure intentions to represent the best interest of Installers and end customers in the best way possible.  My current role is with Enphase Energy as the Hawaii Regional Sales Manager. Here I work with installers every day to help them deliver cost savings and resiliency to their customers using Enphase solar and battery technology. I have seen firsthand the impact that HECO programs can have on customers and am motivated to be a good partner in dialogue within HSEA and with the broader community to help ensure everyone gets to benefit from solar for many years to come.

Ted Peck

Ted Peck

Member

Theodore (Ted) Peck, President of Holu Hou Energy, has more than 30 years of senior leadership experience in business, government, and energy management, including development of the Hawaii Clean Energy Initiative as the state’s energy administrator. He has experience in energy planning, renewable energy permitting and facilitation, hydrogen programs and development, greenhouse gas emission reduction issues, energy assurance planning, and other areas relevant to HSEA. In 2010, Peck left the state government to join an initiative to recapitalize HEI to accelerate the pathway to a renewable future, an effect which ultimately fell short but did succeed in changing the conversation.  He continues to pursue innovation in clean energy, with a continued emphasis on microgrids and distributed assets.  He has developed more than 75 commercial/non-profit/multifamily power purchase agreements during his time in industry.  Peck is a retired Navy nuclear submarine officer and earned a Bachelor of Science in physics from the United States Naval Academy in Annapolis, Maryland. In 2004, he was named a “Forty Under 40” by Pacific Business News and in 2006 became a Pacific Century Fellow. Peck was selected as one of the state’s “20 Leaders For the Next 20 Years” by Hawai‘i Business Magazine in 2010.
